Origin of the trail
Mountain ranges have fascinated me from an early age. The physical and mental challenge of crossing them in thru-hiking ('long-distance hiking') has become an aspiration. Combined with a passion for alpinism, brought me to designing this trail and starting to plan for it more than a year ago.
The objective
The philosophy of this trail is two-fold. First, it's about staying as high up as possible while traversing the Alps and therefore combining hiking, scrambling and climbing. Secondly, it is about offering front row tickets to the Alps' beauty and vulnerability but also insights to preserve this beauty for the future.
Days
Kilometers
Meters in elevation gain ↑
The core principle of this trail is to maintain a consistently high altitude throughout for as long as weather and mountain conditions permit. Commencing the journey from Muggia (Triëste, Italy) at sea level on April 13, 2024. Crossing multiple alpine ranges such as the Julian Alps, High Tauern, Pennine Alps, Walliser Alps and Bernese Alps, and traversing renowned peaks like Dufourspitze, Matterhorn, and Mont Blanc. The ultimate aim is to reach Monaco on October 6, 2024, after a duration of 176 days, covering a distance of 2.576 kilometers and ascending a total of 166.612 meters in elevation gain.

This is it!
Below is the trail as I thru-hiked and climbed it. Based upon all the experiences along the route and the advice I got from people I met throughout, the trail will be further finetuned and published here.
